Naming the Loss

Loss

weighs down on me

today.

I can neither

deny

ignore

understand

or dismiss it

today.

There is no

healing

reconciling

hoping

or pressing in

today.

Maybe tomorrow.

For now

perhaps it is

enough

to name it

and to say the words:

I wish

it didn’t have to be

this way.
